Chery Tiggo Cross HEV officially previewed this May

Last year, Chery Malaysia announced that the Tiggo 4 would launch here in the first quarter of 2025. Although that didn’t happen, the Tiggo 4 is still coming — and it looks like it will arrive as soon as next month!

On a display board, it showed that the Tiggo 4 HEV will reach Malaysia in May 2025. For Malaysia, the car will be named Tiggo Cross.

The Tiggo 4 has been teased in Malaysia a few times — first in October 2022 during a media preview, and again with the latest 2024 facelift in April 2024. It will compete with models like the Perodua Ativa and Honda WR-V.

Under the hood, the Tiggo 4 HEV uses a 1.5L naturally-aspirated engine (G4G15B) running on the Atkinson cycle, with 40% thermal efficiency. The engine alone produces 97 hp and 118 Nm. It’s paired with a Direct Hybrid Transmission (DHT) — an electronic CVT — plus two electric motors that add up to a strong 201 hp and 310 Nm combined.

The electric motors are powered by a 1.83-kWh battery, and the whole system is very efficient, achieving fuel consumption as low as 5.4L/100 km and offering a combined driving range of up to 1,000 km. Both the petrol engine and electric motors can drive the car independently.

We expect the Tiggo Cross HEV to be revealed at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (May 9–15).
