Proton Returns to Singapore After More Than 10 Years.

Proton has officially made its comeback to Singapore, launching its first-ever electric car—the Proton e.MAS 7.

Last weekend, the new EV was showcased to the public at The Car Expo 2025, held at Singapore EXPO. This came just weeks after its international debut in Nepal.

Proton’s return was carefully planned through a partnership with VINCAR Group, its newly appointed official distributor. VINCAR will now manage sales of Proton’s electric vehicles under the e.MAS brand.

With Singapore’s strong economy—ranked second in the world by GDP per capita—Proton saw a great opportunity to target drivers looking for practical, city-friendly EVs.

Their return also matches Singapore’s push towards green transportation. EV market share grew from 12% to 18% between 2022 and 2023, and is expected to reach 55% by 2027.

The Singapore government is rapidly expanding EV infrastructure, aiming for 12,000 charging points by 2025, and 60,000 by 2030, with a target of 100% cleaner energy vehicles by 2040. Meanwhile, Proton has already collected over 6,000 bookings for the e.MAS 7 in Malaysia, showing strong local interest.

"The launch of the Proton e.MAS 7 in Singapore marks a big milestone in our international plans," said Dr. Li Chunrong, CEO of Proton. "We believe the e.MAS 7 is a great fit for Singaporean drivers as the country embraces electric mobility."

And there's more to come. Proton is preparing to introduce a smaller model—the upcoming e.MAS 5, expected to be based on the Geely Xingyuan platform.

The e.MAS 5 will offer two motor options (78 hp or 114 hp) and battery options (30.12 kWh or 40.16 kWh), with a range between 310 km and 410 km.

The e.MAS 5 is expected to make its first public appearance at the 2025 Malaysia Autoshow, happening from May 9 to 11.
